Thanks. It was moving the files to the archive instead of simply archiving them, and using other key combinations doesn't seem to work - the first letters seem to dictate the behaviour rather than the command, which is very confusing.

The only apparent possibility is using CA:
Not as logical or easy to use than Alt+Shift, but better than nothing.
